That Darned Cat!

We love our cats. We have five. The two younger ones are both males and about two years old. Finn is black and got hurt somehow outside on one of his outings this last summer. The back half of his body is still healing, but the fur is slowly growing back. We are making him stay inside as much as we can so he can heal. He's been neutered.
Then there is Colbert. He is a typical-looking Maine Coon. A beautiful cat. We let him go out. Didn't really want him to but he scurried out by my daughter and took off. He was gone for four days. We had rain for two of those days and then 3-4 inches of snow. I think he may go inside this business just up the street and get locked inside at night. Not sure. But, anyway, he was gone for 4 days. We worried. He finally came up to the door and we were so happy to see him.
These darned cats. They will stay gone long enough that we begin to fear the worst and then they come sasheying up to the door like nothing happened. But, he is home and with no battle wounds or anything. He ate and then slept most of the day. The scamp.

Alejandra´s cat used to be gone for days and then come back in an awful shape. I suppose that he was the father of many of the kittens in the neighborhood. Then he got old and Alejandra had to keep him inside at some times of the year. She knew.

I can't see keeping them in. Too much world out there to explore and a cat can only nap on so many surfaces before they go stark raving mad.

@celticeagle I have never had a cat. I believe that they are not wholly domestic. They only do what they like.

I know. Even though I don’t have pets (horrible allergies) I love the strays that come here and name some of them. Callie the Calico disappeared last year, and I figured someone took her in. Nope, she just moved to a different street…she still comes by occasionally. Guess she likes the cat food I buy.

Both my cats Freddie and Tish are indoor cats, We are right near a large street and I don't let them out,

We live a block away from a main artery and the cats know better. Our two younger cats are outdoor cats but the older ones just go out for a while and come back in. I think after the other young one is neutered he will be fine.
