What Did We Do to Deserve This?

Housing came by last week to schedule a time when they could put in a new toilet. The upstairs one was replaced about two years ago after the old one broke. We had water all over, a nasty mess.
So today an older gentleman from Housing came (about an hour late) and put in a new(out of the box) ADA toilet. He closed the door to the bathroom and we heard sawing and pounding. I don't understand the removal and reset-up precedure of a toilet but it did seem pretty involved.
It took about 2 hours and now we have a new toilet. Why we have a new one I'm not too sure.

Sawing? Maybe the subfloor had to be replaced, or at least reinforced. That happened to Juanita when she had the upstairs toilet replaced last year.

Maybe. He did do quite a bit of sawing.

He was by himself too. Those toilets are not light.

@sallypup ... ...yes, that happened a couple years ago. Nasty flooded bathroom. The replacement didn't fit right and was ugly but hey, we had one. Now this one is brand spanking new, is higher but the seat is weird and my seat doesn't fit it very well. I'm trying to get used to it.

Housing codes and things assisted housing has to comply with, I guess. they are basically doing a cya. If you know you know, but if not it stands for cover your a...) They don't want to get sued or have their founding pulled because someone injured themselves in the bathroom.

Yes, It only took them 4-5 years to get a real electrician in here to fix the back yard light. It was connected with the dining room light and it was all messed up.It pays to pay for a real electrician sometimes.

@celticeagle Yeah, I know what you mean. I went through it myself when I lived in apartments.

Well I know you know it is not to benefit you...it is to benefit them. The owners of the complex.

It’s nice to get new things. Strange that it took so long.

We told them years ago that the back light didn't work. It took them about 4-5 years to finally get an actual electrician in to fix it. The electricity in the dining room and the back light were all done screwily. The electrician shook his head. Nice to finally have that fixed.

Yes, and it is totally different than the old one. Nice to have a new one.
