My keyboard has a stutter / myLot

The photo of two buck kangaroos fighting has nothing to do with the discussion. It was taken on our previous property. In a couple of weeks we'll be going to the house next door to house-sit. I'm hoping to see lots of kangaroos. I don’t know if it’s me or my keyboard or the computer but I’m blaming the keyboard. It has been stuttering for a while – repeating letters in words and leaving double spaces between words. Of course, now I want it to do it to show you, it’s behaving perfectly. I don’t like having mistakes in my work so mostly I go back and correct it. Double spaces in comments I normally don’t bother about. Does your keyboard do funny things?

It could be your mouse. I have changed my mouse a couple of times.

I've had a new mouse too a while back. I think my fingers don't bounce up as quickly as they should.

My keyboard may be ten to fifteen years old. It fell sometime and has a corner where a piece has broken off. I have covered the corner with cello tape. The monitor is even older and displays a horizontal line when the computer is on. Otherwise, the set is serving me fine.

The Kangaroos seem to be fierce fighters and may be they are "Kung Fu Fighting" !!

Keyboard of my previous in use home laptop had a problem with "Q" for a long time. I got it replaced in Mid 2023. We also have the option of buying an external keyboard which can fit into USB port of the laptop.

@JudyEv I had to. So I copied a lot of Q originating words plus those with Q in between and used copy-paste of that list !

Occasionally a particular key seems to stick, doesn't it? At least you wouldn't need to use a 'Q' too often.

Yes, at times I get that type of problem, too, but I know it's my fault... I'm having some small issues that are slightly annoying right now but may need to be looked into later on. If you don't believe you're causing the problems you've described, the first thing to do is turn your keyboard over and gently tap on the bottom of it and see how much debris comes falling out from between the keys. All keyboards have a bad habit of catching stray hairs, crumbs from out hands and even hair/dust from pets if you have any in the house. If your keyboard is part of your laptop, then it might need to be cleaned... I can describe how to do that but would really rather not. If you don't know what you're doing, you can easily damage your laptop.

Good point about debris in the keyboard but mostly I think it's just that I don't type as well as I used to. I'm older than I used to be!! I think that is part of the problem.

Sounds like the keyboard. Not at all sure how you clean these things. I have a separate keyboard to plug in and I find easier to use as it is larger than one on the laptop

I used to have a separate monitor but now I just use my laptop. I think I've just become a lazy typist.
