And Another Trip to Town

So ranting a bit here now... I swear this man (hubby) is nuts. Today he insisted on needing spark plugs for the mower. He bought some part for it yesterday. Whey didn't he get spark plugs too? He made two trips into town yesterday, that should have been one trip and now another one today. My question is what will he need tomorrow? I'm not complaining too much because I didn't have to do yard work today. I think he's awful sore to take two days off in a row!! Men! Do you make unnecessary trips to the store or wherever? I try to make any trip as meaningful as possible. It doesn't always work out.

I think his problem is he sees things first hand and doesn't think forward...like what's next? Always have the unknowns such as something out of stock, etc.

@porwest I get that. Unexpected things can't be planned for.

@kareng Although, to be fair, if I am working on a project, I tend to be back and forth. My wife tells me the same thing, "Don't you plan?" Well, yeah, kinda sorta. But with the way projects go with me, there's always something that suddenly arises I didn't plan for. lol

No, I don't but I'm also not working on a lawnmower... Sometimes you don't know you need something until you need it.

It had the original spark plugs in it. Got the thing in like 2010. It was time!!

@kareng But did he think to check them before he went to town the first time? And did you think to remind him how old they were before he went to town the first time? Just as much your fault as his.

@DaddyEvil Nope, not my job. Yard equipment and cars is his territory in maintenance. From what I overheard of his conversation with his brother on the phone, there is one other thing he will change. Eyeroll. So he knows!!

I don't very often but Vince does. He never seems to get everything he wants in one go.

It must be a processing thing with men. It's like my hubby doesn't think ahead of what he needs next? Or what do I need for tomorrow's projects?

@JudyEv Well it is good to see that someone else is wired this way! It isn't like they forget, because mine will discuss what he is doing the next day. And bingo, he needs something else! Why not get it at once? I'll never understand, but it is what it is!!

@kareng Vince is the same. I can't work out if it's a 'man' thing or if he just depends on me to remember for him - or just doesn't mind making multiple trips to the shops.

If it was a trip involving more than a mile, no, I wouldn't be making it every day. But I am big on lists, etc...and I learned long ago to consolidate my errands as much as possible to save gas and time. I am surprised his spark plugs lasted that long.

He wasn't remembering how old the mower was. I had reminded him when we bought the tractor that it would be going out soon, and to go ahead and get the mower for the back of the tractor. He was thinking that it was only about 6 years old and it is more like 15 years old.

@kareng Men...sometimes, they are just like little kids, and we have to remind them of stuff!

Same! It's very easy to do in our little town. You can knock out five stops in an hour or less!

Oh, the classic "multiple trips for one project" scenario! It sounds like your husband might be experiencing a bit of "project tunnel vision," where he focuses on one part at a time. It's definitely a common frustration!

Yes, or what do I need for the next step? I agree!
