New week, same old years! 
We’re getting close to top ten time. First up, though, a day you’ve probably been waiting for, when many of you will know BOTH of the songs…and, like me, go, “Wow, that’s that old now?” Let’s start in 1985, really making you feel old that this is 40 years old now.

And to make you feel old, his first album came out 47 years ago. Sadly, next year marks ten years since his untimely death.
Anyway, this is a great little song. If you want it without any funk whatsoever you can get the Hindu Love Gods (a/k/a Warren Zevon and R.E.M.) doing it, But for pure dancing delight, you just can’t go wrong with Prince.

My sister loved this song, it was one of her very favorites. She had a raspberry beret...and lovely black hair. I can close my eyes, and still see her dancing to this...for quite some time, I couldn't listen to this song without tears. But I can now...
Thank you for the reminder of one of my best memories.

It really is special, the way a song can take us back through a memory we cherish.
We still can get a bit teary eyed ove Raspberry Beret...but the memory is there, with her dancing and humming along. She was so special. Thank you again, sweet friend.

I remember being very jealous of Prince when he got off with Sheena Easton.
She denied it, but it was all over the papers back then, and they never lie.

I always liked how he’d do those “pop-up” shows, announced the week of the show, to keep the scalpers at bay. He did one of them here in Louisville.
