Well, not so much building work, as removing work.
On our side of the cul de sac the drives are on an incline.
Next door have decided that they want to make their drive flat and then by the house they are having steps. They say this is because of bad knees. Certainly I know that she ….Amy …has had an operation on her knee. He , goes out walking every day, several times, and I have walked with him many times from the bus stop when returning home and he seems to have no problem with a steeper and longer incline than their drive. They also regularly walk around the corner to their son’s house, again on a steeper and longer incline.
It is their drive …you say
It is up to them ….you say
What’s it got to do with you ….you say
My reply is this ……
Yes, it is their drive and yes they can do with it what they want …..
HOWEVER
Their drive currently comes 10 inches over on to our land.
We have a roller shutter in the front of our carport, but it is old and may need replacing, if we have another roller shutter …okay….BUT , if we have doors that open outwards or even an up and over door, neither of these would be able to open properly as their wall is in the way.
They are also obviously going to put a wall at the side of the drive, inbetween our two drives ….then on their side there will be about a 6 foot drop.
As they have 10 inches of our land that means it will be tricky for us to get out of the car, without the danger of falling down the 6 foot drop. I worry about the Grandkids who may forget and simply just open the car door to get out, and fall.
The only way we can get enough space to move our car over is to take up some of our garden. I don’t see why we should have to do that.
They said they were having quotes over the next three weeks before deciding who to do the work. However when we came home on Saturday work had already begun …the drive and garden is being ripped up.
Amy was at work, and her husband has very little English. The Mister tried talking to the builders but they too have very little English and we don’t think they understood.
The Mister is away til Friday now and because of hospital appointments this week I am back at Moms tomorrow morning, first thing.
I will try and see Amy before I go and hope that she understands and sees reason.

I wouldn't be so slow to start fussing about it if it were my land...

Go see a solicitor
If any of there stuff is on your land a solicitor will make sure you can get them to move it
It's your property

@traceyjayne Id be writing to council about them encroaching on your land and I’d be making quite a fuss about it.
