Commercial Pilot courses, though not taking long are exceptionally expensive

While following the news about the tragic accident of the AMREF Flying Doctors that happened a couple of weeks ago, I suddenly developed interest in aviation courses. As a result, I found myself browsing through some Kenyan aviation colleges websites with key interest in commercial pilot course. I was taken aback to discover that most of them lasted 8-14 months and it would cost me roughly Ksh. 4,500,000 (USD 37,500) to complete one! I find them exceptionally expensive! Should I be thinking of taking a commercial pilot course then it might take me half a decade to collect fees!

Yeah, flight training is definitely one of the pricier career paths. The cost makes sense when you consider the equipment, fuel, instructors, and certifications involved but it can feel overwhelming. If it’s truly a dream, maybe you could look into scholarships, airline-sponsored programs, or even training abroad where costs might be lower. It might take time, but plenty of pilots started with the same hurdle.
