A workman’s picnic …..

So, our lovely neighbour across the road is obviously having some work done. I say obviously, as there is a white van outside the house and what a can only describe as ‘ stuff ‘ all over her front lawn.
One thing that did make The Mister and I smile this morning was that just under the neighbours living room window the workmen had set up a little table. On it they had put a travel kettle, a bottle of milk and a couple of mugs. We watched as one of the workmen carried a couple of deckchairs from the van and set up one at either side of the table.
They then sat down and had their morning cuppa.
Had it of been me , I would at least let them sit in the kitchen, but as they had come prepared it did make us wonder if they always brought these things with them …..or whether they had worked for Helena before and knew they wouldn’t be allowed in the house !
I’m just hoping they don’t need to use the loo !

While the construction crew were here last month, they asked if we minded if they used our bathroom and I told them they were welcome to use it. They took breaks and lunch in their vehicle in the driveway. They didn't ask and I didn't offer to let them take breaks/lunch with us.@Traceyjayne (11252)

It just amused us the way they had brought a table etc and chairs…..we would have thought maybe a flask if they weren’t sure if they were going to be offered a drink …..most folks here would provide that …..and have a packed lunch in the van ….
Having seen them the last couple of hours they mainly stand around and drink, spend time on their phones or chat. Not seen much work done yet ……the neighbour is out so I guess that has something to do with the lack of work happening……she is not the sort of person to let that go !

@Traceyjayne That sounds like the guys that were working on the house next-door all summer. Sometimes they were working and sometimes just standing around talking.

The last time the maintenance man was here, the only way I could get him to leave was to refuse to let him use my bathroom. He had been done with his task for an hour, but would not leave. It was getting distressing. I was thankful I could use use the bathroom need to get him to go. I mean, I live in an apartment complex. The office has a bathroom for its workers. I didn’t feel rude.

They probably do this all the time since most wouldn't ask to come into the house.
