For some strange reason I’m on “my side” of town today. I’m going to run by the dealership and see what they can do about helping me with my hatchback (apparently I hurt my back pulling it down, so it’s too high for me..and no, it’s not automatic). But while I’m finishing lunch, let’s join @rebelann with some swaying in the chair as we listen to this song. Slow Hand - Pointer Sisters I can hear @LooeyVille ‘s husband from across town: “HEY! What about the Conway Twitty version???” Yes, Conway Twitty covered this song. That should show you this isn’t exactly the boogie song of “I’m So Excited” or “Neutron Dance.” Here’s something you may not know about the Pointer Sisters: they won a country music Grammy in 1974! Anita Pointer said she liked country music but couldn’t find the “right” song for them to record, “So I just wrote one myself.” (The song in question was “Fairytale.”) Eric Clapton had an album called Slowhand, but this is no relation to that. This is a smooth, sexy tune that was, believe it or not, written by the same guy who wrote George Strait’s “Heartland” and “Only One Love in My Life” by Ronnie Milsap (and wrote the Carpenters’ hit “Goodbye to Love”). That’s a versatile songwriter! And the Pointer Sisters were one versatile group.
