The Trump administration is about to let SNAP benefits go unfunded

SNAP aka "food stamps" is used to supplement the food budget of low-income individuals and families. Trump and the GOP are not going to fund SNAP next month if the government remains shut down. So the "pro-life" party is using food for Americans as leverage to try to force Democrats to agree to pass a funding bill? What? I am fortunate in that a lapse in SNAP benefits will not affect me. I don't need or get food assistance. I do feel badly for those who will struggle though. I know my downstairs neighbor is having a tough time making ends meet and she does get assistance. She will definitely be up the creek without a paddle if she doesn't get help with groceries.

Some Mylot members will be happy to hear this. They don’t think this program should even exist.

@NJChicaa We know that they are not. Trump and his cronies want people to have more babies, lots and lots of babies.Trump has talked about giving every woman who has a baby $5K. That idea in itself is so off the wall...then add in if they do have babies, no one will help them if they need help with food? Pro-life? Umm...no.

I’ll tell you what I personally think is behind this. The government has been shut down for almost a month. If SNAP goes away, religious and non-religious charities are going to step up to try to help. And then the creature from the descending escalator will say, “See, these things aren’t needed.”

@FourWalls Eh, I'm sure she didn't "lose her head" over a simple misstatement.

I was too proud to sign up for Snap during Trump's Covid fiasco. I was completely unemployed. for several months.

When we were growing up my dad was too proud. He vowed he’d never take public assistance after his childhood. And God always helped my dad provide.

I am on SNAP. But I do have some money I can use for groceries next month. I am worried about it though.
