Do you get Trick-or-Treaters where you live?

Growing up we would always get a ton of them. At the house we initially had a lot and then you never knew--some years there were a lot and some years there were just a few. My ex and I aren't big into candy but leftovers were never an issue because I would just bring them to school and the students would eat it all. I've been here for 6 years and I don't get them. The first year I was heading down the stairs and out to the gym as a few kids came up them. By the time I got back 3 hours later there was no one which was a good thing because I didn't have any candy anyway. The next year was COVID so my neighbor printed signs for us that said "No candy". And every year since then I haven't had anyone knock on the door. There are many kids in this complex so I don't know why. Maybe they just don't want to come up to the 3rd floor. Do you get kids showing up at your door on Halloween?

In my country, it's not very common to celebrate Halloween house to house, but malls keep the tradition alive. They usually put in effort to celebrate Halloween with trick-or-treating in those places. The bigger celebration here is on November 1-2, All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day, when people flock to cemeteries to visit their loved ones, light candles, and often turn it into a mini family reunion. Many families meet there, and the gathering usually lasts until the wee hours of the night.

No one trick or treats in our apartment complex. Every Halloween management tells everyone to send their kids by the office for Halloween candy. I guess it is their way of avoiding trouble. Pardon my English, but ain’t nobody want to trick or treat here.

My area is not scary, but I think my area is a bunch of adults who just do not trust world anymore for kids. Some of them have kids but take them to other places. My new neighbors have really young kids and wonder how they going to adapt. You get about one or two groups a year of trick or treaters and they go this place sucks. . My sister is like turn off the lights every year and where we at because its just not what it used to be, but for the places that still do it please do, Kids need something, its just people here have been through the ringer and they not in the mood to play anymore.

We haven't had trick or treaters for several years now, no kids out here in the country.

There are not a lot of kids in our neighborhood, and it's a gated community, so we have never really gotten a lot of trick-or-treaters in the past. But over the last three years we did get a small handful of kids coming by. I do have candy ready to go in case we get some trick-or-treaters this year, but for the most part I think I will have quite a bit leftover after the holiday to eat myself.

No, we do not. I am the last occupied house on a sparsely occupied street. When my neighbors were little I did Halloween plastic cups full of goodies for them.

At our last house, we had hordes or little monsters and a few teenagers who didn't want candy, they just wanted to destroy any real pumpkins people used for decorations. (I started putting out one pumpkin sitting in a chair on our front porch that was plastic and plugged into an outlet right behind the chair. I tied that sucker into the chair so the teens couldn't take it.) At this house, we've never had trick or treaters. Nobody is supposed to trick or treat at houses here, anyway. When Pretty was gone to college, the city passed a ban on trick or treats except at businesses in the downtown area of town. When I still had nieces and nephews who were little, they'd trick or treat us but that was all we got.

In this neighborhood even though there are children who live nearby, they do not come asking for treats since the lights are off in the back yard.

Its a rule for most children be a well lit area. California is mostly well lit, and if it is not means they do not want to play. I actually see more adults celebrating the holiday than kids these days/. Where trust factor is out the window, no one trusts people with their kids and do not blame them.

Nope. Not a one. My house is set back and not close to any other houses. When I lived in East Cleveland with my parents most of the houses were 2 or 3 floors. TONS of kids. We usually ran out of candy.

I live in a quiet and rather secluded tiny complex, inearby there are always two of the Trunk or Treat events with not only candy but things like ounce houses, cake walks, various games and such. The kids and the parents generally go to those instead.
