This is a picture of Talimena Drive in Oklahoma. It’s a beautiful location where people drive in the fall to see the changing leaves. My mom used to have my dad drive us those two hours and then we’d stop, get out, walk the trails… One year my mom was too sick to go, so I got her in my car, and told her we were going to see the changing leaves. I drove her about 15 to 20 minutes away to the OU campus (where she, my dad, and sister got their Masters). The campus has such old, established trees, and combined with the young ones, the scenery was just breathtaking. It wasn’t the same as Talimena, but I think she appreciated the thought. I’m grateful for that memory. My dad appreciates nature now, but when we were younger he’d always say, why do I want to go look at a bunch of dead leaves? He gladly goes now.
