Housing Was Here......Oh, Joy!

So about an hour ago the bug guy was here. My grandson explained to him that we got the wrong memo from Housing and that we do not have bed bugs. He was very nice and said it was for cock roaches not bed bugs as my grandson had thought. I guess he told the Housing rep and soon she dropped by. Asked to see the memo. My daughter showed it to her. She said nothing, no apology for the mistake or any explanation-- just took it and left. Weird!
So now it's a waiting game. See if we get something else stuck in our door in a day or two or what. And, then if we do get something do we take it seriously or ignore it? (If it is for roaches we will be more apt to take it seriously.)
What a world this Housing thing has become. It used to be that we could call them, they'd actually answer the phone, and we could get questions answered and things done. Now, we don't get any answers, and if we leave a message no one calls back, and we might or might not get a maintenance person to show up in a week or so. A couple of summers ago we had a fire in the backyard that the neighbor guy set after barbecuing and we couldn't get a hold of anyone to report it to Housing. It's as if no one is in the offices anymore and they don't seem to be organized or care about this place any longer. I wish we could move but we have nowhere to go and rent is very expensive in Boise right now.
Happy happy, joy joy.

That's why many people in your situation take on small tasks like that, themselves. Want pest control, call someone yourself. Need something small fixed, do it yourself.

Oh, we do a lot of that. But there are some things we can't do ourselves.

@kaylachan .......My grandson can do quite a bit but some things you have to have certain tools and more knowledge than he has.

@celticeagle Yeah, I know. When we lived in apartments, George did whatever he could.

Yes, we've had them here before. We are getting the place sprayed on the 24th. They just got the information they sent us wrong.

It really is. And forget about warranties. They want you to buy new and don't provide parts so you can fix them yourselves.

@celticeagle Most things have built-in obsolescence these days.

Yeah, I haven't heard of stink bugs except in storage units that have been closed up for years.

I think all rental properties are suffering from a lack of no one in the office. The places here are...there is no one in our office, but we do have excellent maintenance. We just send in an order on the maintenance site and he is on it...and if we have an emergency request, like no heat, etc. or something vital is broken, he will come right away. We are lucky to have such a good guy to do our maintenance.

We have an emergency number we can call if it gets too bad. You are lucky. Many of the ones that come to do maintenance here don't speak the language, so it is hard to communicate what is going on.

It's crazy these days how no one seems to answer the phone no matter who you're calling.

It's bizarre. As if I have entered an episode of The Twilight Zone.

I know how you feel since getting help from the housing authority can cause headache getting the handyman to answer the phone and come on the scheduled day for work sometimes.
