Would You Rather go Camping or Glamping?

My answer to that is . . . neither one! My idea of "camping" these days is the Holiday Inn. I haven't camped since I was a child and I don't remember liking it then. Back then it was a musty moldy old canvas tent that we all 4 slept in and there weren't air mattresses or anything, we slept on the hard cold ground, and it was very rustic. Nope, camping isn't my thing. The Bing Poll showed 55% Camping to 45% Glamping.

I would rather go to our static caravan ….home from home. We do have a tent and that’s fine ….. for short term. I would go glamming but The Mister won’t.

I’ll sleep in my car, thank you. I did that a few years ago at Norris Dam State Park in Tennessee. All the comforts of camping without the bugs, the animals, or having to put up and take down a tent.

hmmm, good question..at my age maybe Glamping..but it is probably unaffordable. For as much as some places want to charge you might as well be in a motel.

@looeyville Glamping is a total rip-off and is often more pricey than a hotel. I despise hotels too. When I was 12 our family went on a three month road trip through Mozambique, Rhodesia and South Africa camping all the way. It was fine and the most exciting bit was being inconvenienced by curious elephants. I'd never consider camping now.

I'm with you on the "neither" If I'm leaving home I want a comfortable bed, indoor plumbing, electric, etc

I guess what the wife and I do is considered "glamping" in that we have a comfortable bed, a bathroom, a kitchen, air and heat and all that sort of stuff. I like having at least some of our own creature comforts we don't get from a hotel, but it's certainly more "labor intense." I also like stepping out and having the fresh air, maybe a campfire, and just enjoying nature.

I have no desire to do either m. Our youth group at church would occasionally camp, but it rained every single time.

When I was a kid, I'd camp out in a tent with a sleeping bag and did fine. As an adult, Pretty and I slept in the back of our Daytona hatch back car several times (While watching for shooting stars.) but if I had a choice, it would be a decent motel. (Some of my family had a motel on a lake about two hours from our house. We'd go stay a few days there. ) If there were mosquitos around, we'd come back home. I hated the little bloodsuckers! They leave everybody else alone and attack Pretty and I. (I know it's because we're type O- blood. Even with bug spray, they still hover around us.)
