The Eagle Named Peter

Peter was an eagle who taken up residence at the U.S. Mint in the 1830s. In 1836 his wing got caught in the coining press and he died a few days later. Having become both a companion and a mascot they decided to hire a taxidermist and then placed his stuffed remains in the building's entrance. He still remains on display in the Philadelphia Mint. It is believed by historians that the eagle that is featured on the Silver Dollar issued from 1836 to 1839 was Peter. Also, the one-cent piece issued in 1857 to 1858.

Yes, they are. I wish I could make it out to the World Prey facility. It's out on the bench and they have all kind of raptors.
