A Wedding Cake Catastrophe

A recent discussion post by @snowy22315 about a Thanksgiving catastrophe when the table full of food collapsed to the floor inspired me to write about my wedding cake "cat"astrophe. You'll notice I put "cat" in quotes there. There's a reason. The year was 1994. I was marrying my second husband on October 29th of that year. We were getting married in the backyard of our house with just two witnesses then inviting friends over afterward. I have always loved everything having to do with Halloween and had chosen this wedding date on purpose. The "wedding cake" was a sheet cake from Sam's Club decorated with Dracula and the Bride of Frankenstein. So we got married in the back yard and had set out the food and wedding cake in the kitchen for our guests that came following the ceremony. But we had sat the cake on the microwave cart where our black cat always jumped up. Yeah, you see it coming, right? Up jumped the black cat right on top of the Dracula Wedding Cake. We laughed, cleaned his paws off, but nobody wanted any of the cake after that. Attached is a generic stock photo of a messed-up wedding cake.

Yeah, I wouldn’t have wanted to eaten it either, and would have looked sideways at anyone who had.

Kitty said how foolish of you to put the cake on "his spot."
