I have an iphone 14 Pro Max and the ringer won't make a noise! I pressed the button to make the sound go up and it went all the way up but the but the bell symbol on the line has a line across it I went to settings and went to "Sounds and Haptics" and the Ringtone alert is set all the way up and I set it to the loudest sound possible. Now when I was looking for a louder sound then I could hear them and I can hear videos too! Just not when someone calls me! I turned the phone off and back on. Didn't do any good. Any idea's.

On the side of your phone (mine is on the upper left side) there is an indentation with a tiny little flip switch thingy. If it got bumped, it will show a red spot. Flip it back to where it belongs if it's red. I've killed my ringer before with that tiny switch.

You explained that better than I did.

@AmbiePam I never thought of calling it by what it should have been called, the mute button. All I know is that I accidently did that a few times and now I have learned to check for that little flash of red!

@MarieCoyle I’ve accidentally turned it on mute myself a couple of times. I get so annoyed when I do that.

It sounds like you accidentally put it on mute/silent. The mute switch is in the side, and you just have to push it to the other side. I hope I described that okay.

I wonder what is wrong with my brain that I didn't just call it the mute button. Duh.

Turn it off till tomorrow. These people constantly updating them, could be just something like that. If it is still doing that, then could be a issue with phone. I turn my phone off for days at a time and have about a dozen updates every time. Those updates can mess with the settings of the phone. They usually correct it when its said and done, though.

Marie Cole and AmberPam reminded it it was that stupid little button. It works now. Thanks.

@dfollin Good, yeah I hate phones, buttons so small and I have fat fingers. I mess up so many things on that phone with these fat fingers. I am a skinny guy, but some reason I have fat fingers.
