Although it may seem hopeless at 3am when you know you will have to get up in a few hours for school or work, there is a way out of sleepless nights which will get you off to dreamland in no time. The E word Exercise! Exercise is a natural releaser of tension. Aim for at least 30 minutes a day - take a brisk walk before or after dinner every evening to help your entire body function at its best. Yoga, Tai Chi or relaxation exercises are also known to have proven sleep boosting effects. Food Facts A good night’s sleep starts first thing in the morning. What you eat at this time can have quite a profound effect on how well you sleep. If you don’t have breakfast, you are more likely to eat later in the evening – this in turn will raise your blood sugar levels which in turn wakes your brain up. Try starting your day with a good breakfast such as Healtheries Bircher Muesli or wholegrain toast and egg. Light out! No bedtime routine? Good quantities of a brain chemical called melatonin are essential for a great sleep. Melatonin is only developed in response to darkness, so having the house lights full on and the TV and Stereo blaring are not going to help your trip to dreamland. Dim the lights in the evening and wear a sleep mask when you are going to sleep for great melatonin levels. Caffeine Kicks Coffee, tea, or cola addict? Even if you only drink these in the first half of the day, your liver will still have to process the caffeine in them during the night, and this in turn affects your sleep patterns. Swap for delicious herbal and fruit teas during the day, and in the evening try Healtheries Chamomile or Sleep Tea as a better option for bedtime. Mineral magic Calcium and magnesium are often recommended for bones, but did you know they settle and calm your nerves and help you to relax and sleep. Low levels of calcium and magnesium cause anxiety, nerviness, grumpiness, nail biting and smoking. Does this sound like you? Healtheries Calcium 1000 contains the magnesium and calcium you need. Low levels of iron may also be a cause of insomnia. Get a blood test from your doctor and switch to a diet high in protein and green vegetables. Peaceful sleep Finally, a herbal helper may be just what you need. Products containing kava kava, chamomile, passion flower, valerian, or skullcap work as mild stress busters that can help to reduce nervousness, anxiety, and muscle tension. If you are not stressed, but just can’t sleep, products that contain hydroxytryptophan - a natural mood relaxant sourced from the seeds of the African Griffonia plant can also help aid a deep and restful night’s sleep. Look for Healtheries Peaceful Sleep and Healtheries Easy Sleep at your nearest supermarket. With some simple lifestyle changes and herbal help, your dreams for a peaceful night may yet come true. have U SLEEP SUCCESS TO NIGHT?

Thank you for sharing, I do suffer from insomnia among other health issues. But I do want to get off of imovane, a sleeping pill I am relying on too much. Even with that I don't get the best sleep all the time. I just had a sleep study done and waiting for the results... could be more to it than just being unable to relax.

You know...sometimes I can sleep better, or fall asleep quicker in front of the tv listening to country music videos than I can in bed! I have a lot of arthritis problems and some of the problem is trying to find a comfortable position to sleep in so that something doesn't hurt! I did recently buy one of those mattress pads and that has helped a great deal to cut back on places that hurt.
