Listening to George Carlin Again

He always gets me to thinking odd and unusual thoughts.
I quit drinking about 5 years ago. I decided the hangover was not something I wanted to die of. I want to die normally. My head hurting ain't it.
But in listening to George talk about airplane accidents my skin begins to crawl. Funny but rather scary. The last time I flew was back in about the mid 70s. I had several drinks. That kept me calm enough.
If I were ever put into a situation (and it better be good) where I have to fly again, I will need something to keep me from having a nervous breakdown. Some of those little bottles of alcohol would do me quite well. I do hope that no one else on my flight decides they want a drink too because I will be needing quite a few of those little guys to get me where I'm going.
Do you fly? Have you recently? How'd you feel?

I haven't flown since 2000...and I don't want to fly anymore. Little planes actually make me feel safer than the big ones even though the little ones seem to crash more often.

@celticeagle Fortunately I can't walk the terminals anymore; so there's no more flying for me.

I'm ok with flying. I haven't flown for awhile, but I did ever so often when traveling to the capital city of the country or when we go on vacation to other countries.

@celticeagle My very first experience was when I was 11 and my mother had me accompanied by my cousin. I wasn't scared at all. I was quite brave. And I enjoyed my summer vacation that time that I extended it and my mother got so worried that I didn't come home. She went to the airport to fetch me but no daughter came.

I have been up in a small plane and in a helicopter but neither one was recent. I much prefer to drive if I go anywhere. And I don't like riding with someone else as my driver.

Small planes scare me. I can see where being the driver would take a lot of the edge off driving.

@celticeagle I was 18 when I rode in the small plane. My best friend's dad was the pilot. I enjoyed the plane ride but never wanted to go up again until Pretty was 4 or 5 years old. Her mom and I along with Pretty were in Branson and saw a helicopter pilot giving rides for $50. My wife didn't want to go up but I wanted to try it. Big mistake!

I was never comfortable flying, When I arrived from Latvia, I had to take three planes. The only thing that got me grhough was knowing that my late husband, Martin, was traveling with me in spirit. Now if a miracle occurred and i had money to return to Latvia, I would take a ship.

I'm glad you felt him with you. A ship, huh? I have never been on one. I think I'd have a problem when we got out to where there was water all around us and I couldn't see land.

My negative feeling about flying has increased with the stories I hear about these planes not being maintained as well as they should be.

@celticeagle If something goes wrong then you're done for. Not too many survive a plane crash.
