Why don’t school kids sit down on a bus !

I was a little later than usual coming home on the bus today, and unfortunately, I hit the time when the school kids were piling out of school …..big mistake! I always sit almost at the front, and try and sit where I can easily reach a bell . I am still nervous at holding on with my dodgy arm/hand. Anyway, about a billion schoolchildren got on and instead of sitting down on the seats….as any normal person would do ….they huddle together in the aisle, close to the door. This obviously blocks the way for people getting on and off. They either have headphones on So can’t hear you saying “ excuse me please,” if you need to get off. Or they have rusksack the size of a house on their back, Or, they spend the entire journey laughing, giggling, and shouting….. Why can’t they just seat on the seats til they have to get off !

When I rode the bus to school, it was a school bus, and not a city bus. If we didn’t sit down and obey we’d get stuck going to the office of the principal.

I think these days people are just too scared to say anything to anyone.

School kids have their own buses and the driver yells at them to sit down and quit moving between seats. I always sat towards the middle of the bus, put my knees up on the seat in front of me and read until we got to my house. (It was an hour ride from school in the afternoon to my house. My brothers and I were some of the last kids to get home every day.)

Some schools here have their own bus services but not all of them. This one doesn’t ….its close enough to town for the schoolchildren to walk into and then get there own buses from there.

@Traceyjayne In town kids are expected to walk to school once they're 9 years old and above or drive if they're 16 or older. I used to drop Pretty off at school and pick her up to take her home when she first started school. Some parents take their kids to school and home again but by the time she was old enough to walk, I had a different job that started too early for me to take her. Sometimes I could still pick her up to bring her home if my job had a short day, though. All schools here have their own buses.

There are some times that it's very good to avoid if you can.

That never would have flown when I was in school. I had to stand quite often on the school bus to high school because it was so crowded...but standing when you could sit is not necessary.
