Calamity on the Elevator

I forgot about my daughter's and Is calamity on the elevator. We were all done and headed to the elevator. Doorways are not fun with the wide wheelchair. We maneuver and get on. End up in the basement(heehee)so push the right button and as we go to get off on the main floor the one wheel goes side ways and the front side goes down in a hole at the entry. I screech and come out of the chair barely missing the floor. Ikes! I'm glad no one was out there. How embarrassing. We were tired. So glad to get home. It takes so much out of us when we have to go join the world for awhile. Glad to be home.

I am glad you did not get hurt. I do not like elevators at all, I was stuck inside a few times and I suffer of claustrophobia.

That would be awful. They seem to be a scary must at times.

@LadyDuck that is one of my biggest fears, getting stuck in an elevator.

@celticeagle - I hate when it happens and I usually prefer to use the stairs.

Riding wheelchairs and having to deal with elevators is not exactly a fun ride.

Gasp.... you left the house, really? I think you need to get out more. But, yeah. I have a standard wheelchair, and elevators make me nervous. Well getting on and off of them, but so far no drama yet.

Yes, I did. My eyes are that important to me. Elevators seem to be a scary must at times.

@celticeagle Yeah, I know what you mean. When George borads them, he pratically runs. Now that he uses a walker, I worry the front wheels will get caught in those gaps.

@kaylachan .........I can understand that. You have to time your step over it just right.

I think my daughter needs to give over her care givership to my grandson. She's strong and wants to help me but doesn't have the control she needs to handle the wheelchair.

@celticeagle Is your grandson big enough to control the wheelchair with you in it?

I'm glad you weren't injured. When hubby would take me to a doctor's appointment or we went out to eat, it would take us a day to recover; so I fully understand.

I got stuck on an elevator once when the door didn't open when I wanted off. It took half an hour to get out and I have to admit I nearly went pee pee in the corner

They should build a gyrinal into the wall that you can turn out if stuck in one for very long. I have a dinky bladder.
