Not Into War Movies / myLot

This weekend there will probably be a lot of war movies on all the apps. They are not for me. The only war movie I ever watched and liked was Sargeant York with Gary Cooper. Oh, and one called Saving Private Ryan I think was the name of it. And one about the Navaja Indians using their language as a code. I just don't like ones with a lot of blood shed and ugliness. My sensitive psyche can't handle it. I respect the soldiers who fight to keep us all safe but I don't need to see too much war.

That's a great movie. I've watched quite a few military movies. I don't know if Stripes qualifies, because it's more of a comedy. But I have seen classics like The Longest Day with John Wayne, Von Ryan's Express with Frank Sinatra (and Edward Mulhare, who I had a ferocious crush on when I was little

), and one of my favorites, The Dirty Dozen. The movie M*A*S*H was more about the unit, so the "blood" was in the operating room, not on the battlefield. There are things I don't watch, like Vito shooting Don Fanucci in the mouth in The Godfather Part II. Yes, I know it's fake and make-up but I still don't want to watch it.

Oh yes, Mulhare is the ghost in The Ghost and Mrs. MUIR TV series version. He was a favorite of mine too. I enjoyed most of M.A.S.H, was a real fan. But it was more a comedy and I didn't have to see the horror of war most of the time yet understand their situation very well. I'm not talking about the violence of war exclusively but the after math and evilness of some of the stories. I'd rather see a drama or thriller.
