Where Have I Been?

I am sorry that I have not been online much at all the past few days. And today, normally, on a Saturday, I can devote some time to catching up on what you are all doing and sharing on the site. Again, I haven't had the time today. Here it is, mid-afternoon, and I am only finding the time now. And even as it is, I will have to get up to get supper going in a little while. It is a very windy, chilly and rainy day here in our neck of the woods. We have had a couple of days like this now. I had intended on buying some bedding plants and getting the flowers put in, but with the temperatures so low, and the lack of sunlight, I think it better to wait to buy them and plant them. I slept in this morning. Must have been the soothing sound of the raindrops. I never sleep that late. It got me behind schedule on my Saturday errands. I normally am getting home about the time that the traffic starts to pick up, today it was already busy when I left, and it got busier. We had to go out to the farmer's market this morning. The parking lot isn't paved and being a dirt lot, without stones, it was muddy. My favorite apples, yellow delicious, are all done for the season from the vendor we prefer to buy from. They are a winter pack variety and they are out until about October. We had to take the car in for an oil change. All I can say is thanks Trump, that cost us almost $200. The money that my hubs saved yesterday by going out to the reservation to buy tax-free gasoline was eaten up today while getting the oil change. Supper tonight will be chicken, fresh asparagus, mashed potatoes and heated up sliders that I made last month. Good food to warm our tummies on a cool day. How have you been lately?

Sounds like a good meal. Everything keeps going up sadly.

It was a good and filling meal, warmed me right up. I got out the file that I keep the receipts in and the oil change only increased by $45 from a year ago. So not terrible, given how everything has increased. But that strait really does need to reopen, things are going to get desperate.

Although it may be a few degrees cooler, the weather is about the same here..and not very motivating. I think it will be a bit better tomorrow and gradually warming. 200! For an oil change? I paid 84 a few months ago and thought that was a lot!

I saw on the news last week that within the next month the availability of oil, for these purposes will be very slim and some places will not be doing oil changes as a result. But with an import you always pay more. There was a ford beside us and I hear the staff tell him it would be about $100 less than we were billed. Doesn't all oil come from the same hole in the ground? We're seriously starting to research hybrid vehicles. I want to stick with VW, as they are great in every aspect except for the cost of maintenance, and the tiguan line has become quite extensive with alot of choices.

Thank you, it is starting to smell delicious in here. With it being supper time soon, it makes me realize that half of the weekend is almost over.

We have friends to dinner last night so enjoyed our time with them. We might put up a couple of shelves in the garage today.

You are in the autumn season by now I believe. Those are projects that we typically work on before the coldest weather arrives here. It rained all day long here today.

@Juliaacv We don't often have days where it rains all day long. We're not quite into winter yet.

@JudyEv We don't usually get rain from before I wake up until the end of the following day either, but that is what this weekend is shaping up to be. My ankle was bothering me from the dampness earlier and Ron's knee (he had surgery in his 30's for a torn cartridge) has been popping and bothering him also. We both took an anti-inflammatory earlier.

I am grateful that a storm that passed through my area did not cause any serious power outages this morning.

Just now
After a few cold days, yesterday the temperature jumped to 30 C, today is a bit better at 28 C. My husband drove to the lake, we parked the car and walked on the pathway along the lake during a couple of hours. He is resting now.
