Talk about realism on TV

Last night I was watching the Pitt, which is the intense medical drama set in a Pittsburgh ER. The Pitt is kind of a fascinating show because the medicine is so realistic, and it is really more about the medicine than the relationships with the characters or the staff, but of course there is some of that mixed in as well. It is about people so there has to be. Last night the show I watched featured a real live birth. I don't know how they did it, and transposed all the TV doctors with what had to have been real medical staff in there. I think they probably just showed parts of the delivery and cut the TV docs in the scene. There were disclaimers about the nudity and the childbirth warning people..about it. However, I thought it was amazing. I have never seen a drama like the Pitt before. I feel like I am smack dab in the middle of the ER.

I, unfortunately, saw a recorded live birth at the age of seven. Oh, it was awful. If I had been older it would have been touching, I’m sure. But I was at a friend’s house at age 7, and my friend’s mom thought my sister and I would enjoy seeing my friend having been born. Uh, no.

My mother wouldn't even let us watch "How life begins", when I was I think in 6th grade. Maybe she didn't want to discuss it, but used the excuse we were too young. I was PO'ed. It would have been educational.

@snowy22315 My mom was pretty appalled when she found out what that lady had shown us.

@snowy22315 Blood and guts don't bother me. Now poop and puke on the other hand . . .

caught up with other things. Lol!
I like such kind of show. Like in those some medical drama I've watched which involves surgery, and even how autopsy is done.
