Pretty day today. I have never liked living here that much because it is too isolated, and I still feel that way, but at the same time I realized this morning, that it is actually a privilege to live here to be surrounded by beauty and feel safe and unencumbered by other people. It is kind of idyllic. At the same time, I probably don't want to be here forever. It can be stressful when the weather like last year was so horrible. I suspect more will come in the future, and the outside steps etc. are very steep. I don't know want to be dealing with those in 10 years. Do you like where you live?
Anyway, happily I got my 20,000 free air mile award. I thought I had a bit more to spend on that..but anyway, it's cool. Experts recommend making reservations now as the cost of fuel may go up in the future. So, I may do that fairly soon.

@snowy22315 There is one nice one, but I’ve been on the waiting list for four years. I’d love not to live on the 3rd floor, but hearing people above me gives me migraines so I’ll gladly take the 3rd floor.

Before I moved here, I lived for a few years in a farmhouse about 7 miles from a town. It was close to a small state highway, so there was some traffic, but not that much--it was a very rural area. There was some good things about living there--I had a big garden, and there was a lot of wildlife to watch and enjoy. However, the farmhouse was extremely basic. Stairs everywhere, and they were steep. The house was built in the 1930's which is fine, but it was never insulated properly. It had what was called a floor furnace--meaning that there was exactly one place in the entire house that heat came out of, in the living room. So that was the only warm room. It was cute, and well kept, but it was the coldest house I ever lived in. Plus way too much to take care of...I love where I live now, and I know I am very lucky to have found this place.

This is a modern house so it doesn't have those issues. My sis once rented an apartment that was the top floor of a farmhouse. That place was soo cute. I loved it. It had all these cupboards, nooks and crannies. I briefly lived once in a place something like that, but it wasn't nearly as much fun as hers was.

That's the way this house was. And it had an absolutely huge country type kitchen with a ton of cabinets. But oh...the charm was hard to think of in zero degree weather with the poor heating system.

Kind of but I can't afford to move. It would be too stressful trying to do it on a shoestring and would probably end up costing me a lot of money. I said I realize that in many ways living here is a privilege

The humidity is doing me in here in Florida; I do not like the tropical heat. At this time in my life with no finances, I have to do what is best for me and becoming a recluse and staying in my four walls has calmed my anxiety.

Sometimes people donate air conditioners...you could check with social services or church groups. They might even deliver it for you. There is one here that is helpful like that.

Good morning to you too. I am sorry you do not like your place but like the solitude which can turn to isolation especially when ther is bad weather. Hopefully you will find a more suitable place one day. I would book your flight so you are locked in at the current level then you can start planning what to do or see when you arrive.

You have a hubby though. If I had a partner living here with me it would make it much more enjoyable.

It does sound peaceful where you live but I couldn't do all those steps with my bad knees.
I love where I live. Its a nice mix of country and surrounding farms yet all the convenience of shopping is less than 15 mon away
