Did you enjoy camp?

Amyra (pictured), will be 15 next month. She headed to church camp yesterday after church, and she was excited. Today, their youth pastor texted my sister a direct quote from Amyra: “The cabin is my favorite sport.” Translation? She is NOT an outdoorsy person. Seeing as today is the hottest day of the year so far, I cannot blame her.
I hated camp because of the heat, and non air conditioned cabins. You may think that’s being whiny, but I’d say you’ve never felt Oklahoma heat and humidity (although if people from Africa think I’m whiny, I’ll accept that).
Amyra’s camp has so much more activities than ours did. We went on hikes, swam, and had church with an occasional movie. She’s got a week of canoeing, zip line, swimming, archery, basketball, art (her favorite), and music. I think that would have kept me busy!

I never went on a camp but if I did, as a child, I know I would enjoy it a lot. I love sports and outdoor activities when I was a kid. Going to the beach and being under the sun without a sunblock was my kind of thing. And even if I suffered from sunburnt skin, id didn't mind at all.
My mom would just put lotion to calm my skin. I suffered form that a lot when I was a kid.

I never went to summer camp in my lifetime since my relatives and myself would go on vacation or visit their relatives out of town.

I went to a 2 week girl scout camp one time. It was interesting, but I wasn't in favor of going back the next year. I had a lot of fun and activities just in my local area in the summer. Sis didn't go to girl scout camp, but I think she might have gone to band camp. She was in a lot of summer competitions I know.

I enjoyed camp, though we didn't have all of that stuff. When I went to church camp though, I was already old enough to be a counselor.

She is a beautiful young lady and I don't blame her for saying the cabin is her favorite sport in the OK heat. I have felt Oklahoma's heat and Mississippi's since both my daughters lived in each state. I went to camp in the sixth grade and we had more hiking than anything. Her camp sounds so fun, though hot.

I liked aspects of camp, but I dont remember much, because there were a lot of things i didnt like lol
