So, it's been forever and a day since I've talked about the Tuesday Challenge. I guess part of that is, you can only say so much about it, and updates on balances can become boring... And to some, maybe even obnoxious. Yet, at the same time, it's still a constant goal of mine to encourage people to find ways to save, and the Tuesday Challenge is one of the many ways to get into the habit, and it's also fun and easy. At least I think so. So, how does it work? On every Tuesday of the month, you put the amount that corresponds with the date into an envelope, or into a savings account. Whichever you prefer. I prefer to use cash. In the case of June, that's $2 on the 2nd, $9 on the 9th, $16 on the 16th. $23 on the 23rd and $30 on the 30th. What you wind up stashing away in a year is roughly around $1,000. Not much to write home about. But again, it gets a habit going, and if you can find these amounts to save, you can probably find more to save and expand the game such as I have done. After year one, I added $1 to the contribution amount. In year two, I added $2. In year 3, which will be starting in October, I will add $3. I also started adding 10% interest on the balance every first Tuesday of each month for a little added fun and extra savings. If all you do is the basic challenge, you'll still accumulate a hefty amount over time. Right now, I have a total balance of $2,714. Again, not a lot, but a good example of how easy it can be to save a couple thousand bucks if you are committed to doing it. As for my picture accompanying this post, I only took a picture of the pile and decided to use it here, considering an odd comment I got from @2ndchances suggesting, when I posted about offering a Tuesday Challenge update, I might be talking about "fake money." Still not sure why I would do that, but nonetheless, the comment stands. Do you do the Tuesday Challenge, or is this something you may decide to start doing?
