Tough decision to make

I went back to see the 2-bedroom / 2-bathroom condo apartment that is not far from where I live. I seem to like it a little better than I did the first time. I would repaint the walls, but aside from that I don’t think that it’s a must to renovate anything at the moment. The apartment is a fairly decent size, though the kitchen could be a bit bigger. There is a washer dryer inside the apartment which is what I wanted. The only thing is it’s a washer and dryer in one and I’m not really sure how that works. The price was dropped from about $550,000 to about $540,000. The monthly HOA is low and the property taxes are around $5200, which includes paying about $560 / year for a deeded parking space. The apartment is much closer to transportation. Instead of walking almost half an hour to the train I’ll have to walk only about 10 minutes. The buses are a bit less walking time as well. And I’m closer to stores, which is important. The amount of money they’re asking for is a lot. I’m not sure if they will go down by much. Also, I thought about it and I realized that even though I shave off about 20 minutes walking to the train the commute to Brooklyn or to Manhattan will still take me hours. Plus, I will still be alone. Most of my relatives live in Brooklyn. While I love the location and I could potentially see myself living in this condo I wonder if it’s a good idea to try to put an offer in. Or if maybe I should consider looking in Brooklyn closer to where my relatives are, even though I would prefer to live in Staten Island. Thing is condos there are probably twice as expensive as this one. And the buildings where relatives live are co-ops and not condos, which is what I wanted to avoid. Plus, there is no washer and dryer in these co-op apartments. You have to go to the laundromat which is a bummer for me. It is a tough decision to make, and I’m getting overwhelmed by it. I just don’t know what to do.

Take a moment and breathe You say you would prefer to live in Staten Island Then that's what I would try and hold out for if I was in your shoes.

Can’t seem to find any other place here in Staten Island that I really like and is actually affordable.

I wouldn’t like to go to a laundromat either. I hope you are happy with any decision you make.

I haven’t had to go to a laundromat since I think 1999. I would hate to lose that privilege.

Its indeed a tough decision. Just take some time to deeply think about it. You don't have to rush. At the end of the day, I will advise you go with your instinct

I can’t take a lot of time on this because where I am now is under contract. Once my mom closes on this house, I have to vacate it.
