I believe our purpose in life is only to help others. I believe if everyone thought like this than there would be no starving people, no crime. If we are all only concerned with helping and serving others our needs would be in turn met without even asking.

That is a very good purpose to have, but even for the best of people, one that would be hard to achieve. Even though we delight in helping people, we are basically a self-centred people to at least some degree, and unfortunately, many to a much larger degree. Please don't think I am in any way knocking your purpose. I believe it is a very good one to have, and as you say, if everyone had the same goal, the world would be a much better place to live.
Thank you for sharing. I am sure your family, friends and neighbours are happy to know you and to be blessed by you.

If you read the book The Puropse Driven Life by Pastor Rick Warren, he explains it so well.

I have read The Purpose Driven Life. Other books which I've found much more helpful are "Living Above the Level of Mediocrity" and "The Quest for Character" both by Charles Swindoll.
Thank you for your contribution. God's richest blessings.

Awwwww thank you Cloudwatcher I have to say honestly now that I did not realise I am comforting People in here
My Friends tell me I am a big Comfort to them that is online and offline but I always shrug that of lol all I am doing is soothing them and being there for them
I am just me and always have been and I just want to help People even if it is just by listening and talking to them as long as I know I have helped them that is what matters to me
I do want to thank you for those kind words though

Thanks for sharing that, Gabs. I had gleaned a little of it from your discussions with Steve. You were handed a raw deal. I like an old saying which you have probably heard many times before: "When life hands you a lemon, make lemonade!"
There is no doubt that you have been handed a lemon, but I believe that at least in some regards you are making lemonade. You bring joy to people here on myLot and that must give you some satisfaction. I'm sure you also find opportunities in your community and I'm positive there would be people around you who say what a great comfort you are to them.
Make lots of lemonade! Thanks for responding. God bless.

My immediat purpose is to Believe God. Not believe in Him, but believe Him. Believe that He is who He says He is, believe He can do what He says He can do. To believe that I am who He says I am, and I can do what He says I can do.
yes, I've been reading Beth Moore's Believing God

Wonderful to read your response Yarntales.
After 48 years of believing God, I can't say it is a problem for me. He has never given me the tiniest reason to believe that I should doubt anything He says. On the contrary, He has given me EVERY reason to believe. I think it is important to know that God cannot lie! If God could lie, He couldn't be God, could He? His promises are great and they are an accomplished fact for all His children who believe.
Psalm 40:5 Many O Lord my God are Your wonderful works which You have done, and Your thoughts towards us. They cannot be reckoned up in order unto You. If I would declare and speak of them, they are MORE than can be numbered.
God bless you abundantly and make you a blessing to others as you love and serve Him.

I think we all have different levels of goals, family goals, career goals, Ministry goals, or health goals. one of my goals is to accomplish that which God has called me to do. To continue in his word and study and walk after him. TO raise a family that Loves and Follows God.

Wonderful goals. Is there a more rewarding experience for a Christian parent than to see their children follow their Lord and Saviour? God bless you and use you to bless others as you continue to serve Him.

I have plans to go back to school in September so that i can get my Teaching Degree! I will admit that there has been a few imes in life that i have just drifted along with the Tide but i have never done this too often. I also ow to raise my daughters right and make sure that they concentrate on their careers before children as it makes it that much harder to finish school! As a single mother i always strive to get better and do my best to achieve the goals that i have set for myself!!

And I am sure you will succeed in everything you try to do. It is evident that your concern and love and care for your children are always to the forefront in your life. In this you are already a success. I believe there is no greater privilege in life than that of being a mother.
I sincerely hope you get to school and complete your teaching degree. It might be hard work, but you can do it!

Things have changed so much over the past few years. Because of health issues, my goals are no longer possible so now I am just drifting along and taking things day by day.
My main goal at this time is to do my best to help make the world a better place for my family and for others. With my disabilities, I am no longer able to work. Much of my time and energy is also tied up now because of health issues with my sons and myself. I am currently visiting doctors between 3 and 5 days a week. Despite this, I plan to continue doing as much volunteer work as I can, just as I always have.

I am sorry to hear you have disabilities but you sound like the type of person who will not let it get you down. Set realistic goals as to what you want to accomplish and I hope you will be up and going again before much longer.
Thanks for your reply.
