If you build your own computers from parts post here. Share tips, tricks, favorite hardware, favorite suppliers, etc. I have built two computers using parts off TigerDirect.com. I do it more to build cheap minimal systems for less than a computer manufacturer and on a more expandable framework. Why do you build your own?

hello thundercat! I love to build computers, because I choose my pieces and components. It's cheaper to build by ouserlves computers than buying them prebuilt. I usually buy pieces from ebay or local stores or other shops. I find that it's cheap to buy them online that in local stores. I always had AMD systems and I like them. I like to overclock them too, and see what can they do :-). What type of system do you have? I have an AMD 3200+ overclocked to 2.6GHz (4200+ maybe? :D) 1GB DDR in dual channel, an ati 9500 (soon upgraded to an x1650pro),asrock 939 dual sata2 and hitachi T7K250 250GB hard drive. And you?

I've only built Intel Systems using MicroATX motherboards, SATA harddrives, DVD Burner, 1GB ram in one dimm, upgrading to two eventually, and Celeron D processors for cheap, over 3GHz. Video and LAN on the board. I don't really build for power or gaming, just general purposes work machines. Actually built a complete system, not counting speakers and LCD monitor, for only $260 after rebates off TigerDirect. As a college student I like to save money. But those rebates are only once in a while when they all line up to make a perfect deal.
