My neighbour, an old man, 70 odd, recently is interested in gaming - roulette, in the casino. He treats this as a new hobby. He visits the casino monthly. He only spends a small part of his pocket money in gaming. Some members of his family do not agree with this but some encourage him to carry on for he enjoys this very much. Beside he makes a lot of friends about his age while gaming. Is it good for an old men to enjoy himself with affordable way ?

Hello dear lkbooi. Well, as to this issue, I think that we have to think about from two different sides, good and bad. As he is a senior old man, it is very important for him to have a very good mood that he could control while playing those so-called games, which, in fact, is some kind of gamble, because you have mentioned that he uses his pocket money for it. If he wins the game, it is ok, but what if he loses the game, which means that he loses the money? Will he get over excited as to influence his health or mood? You know, when an old man gets agitated, some kind of dangerous illness would possibly happen. If he can have a good mood or if he can well control himself, there is no problem. Gambling itself is no good, but making friends of his own age is great as that is a community where old folks love to gather together. Ok, I just analyse this issue from two sides in the hope that it is acceptable to my dear lkbooi.

Hi dear jisir, I am very glad to see your value personal view on this old man. Your analytical remarks are really considerate and rational. I could sincerely accept it in considering his restricted manner and personal situation regarding his gaming in the casino. As he does not cause any harm to his family and his personal health as well, I agree that he has his own right to enjoy and make friends in the game. As far as I have observed, my old neighbor is quite an optimistic and cheerful person. He always gets ready certain amount of money, usually a small sum, and presumes that he would enjoy the gamming even though he is losing. He always does, and so he wouldn’t get agitated to any undesirable consequence as you had expressed your worry and kind concern on this aspect earlier.

Hi dear jisir, it is one of the suitable and interesting activities for those old people who could control themselves in a limited manner. It is good in the sense that the old people could enjoy their favorite social life there, though sometimes it would be quite costly if one were unlucky.

As long as it is not causing him and his family any trouble, i can not find any problem with it. let the man enjoy himself, after all, he is already on his 70s. Why not his family let him enjoy his life, meet new friends, and socialize while enjoying the game. They say, gambling is very addictive. But if the old man did it only once a month, the more it is okay because it means the man knows how to control himself and the way he spends his money.

Hi izathewzia, I agree that what you had said is absolutely true. Since the old man could really control himself and spends his money in such a restricted manner. I do agree that he has his right to enjoy and socialize his way at the casino. I do strictly go against gambling in and addictive and restless way, especially for young people whom are believed to be the main source of manpower in our living.

Since he is 70 years old then maybe he wants to enjoy his life and what he earned before leaving this world. He has the right to do that as long as he has the money and he is happy with it. I think there's nothing wrong with it and he is only visiting the casino monthly.

Thanks for your reply, I have told the old man, my neighbour, at last he got a 1st supporter. He really happy and said that he'll continue to challenge the game (Roulette) with little money but not throwing away money.

I can't if it is good or bad as I am not an expert to health but one thing I can tell you that it will definitely refresh his mind a lot. It is nice that even at the age of 70, he can play a video game.
I am a die hard fan of Video games and believe me people here say that I am too old to be a game player. I am 27 only. But I started at the age of 18 only so, I have been into this arena for last 9 years only. I have at least 30 more years left in my life!

As far as I know it is good for us to use our brain frequently so that our brain won’t get blunted easily. It is nice for us to exercise our brain as well as our fingers often by playing video games, just like you
and other games which need a lot of thinking, and this could let our brains active all the time. This is believed would help to decrease the risk of getting dementia when a person becomes older. Wow! You are really a huge fan of video games and I hope this could exercise your brain and make you always a quick minded person.
Yeah, it is a good way for my old neighbor to have fun with his own pocket money once in a while with his friends in the casino, so that he won't get dementia easily.
Have a nice day and happy
posting.

It doesn’t matter whether the game or the video game is good for the dementia or not, anyway it’s nice for us, at least we have some things interesting to do to amuse us and to pass time as well. By having this fun frequently we then could live a happy and healthy life.

As long as it does not harm our health and it encourage social activity, i think it's a good thing to do. Besides, spending a little money and having enjoyable moments, is really worth it.
