Deadbeat parents...

Ok. I have five kids ... Ok. One of which her father is not in the picture. He denies paternity. Why can't the government of Canada MAKE these fathers pay for a DNA test, to end the questioning once and for all? My daughter is four, she doesn't know who he is, because he says she's not his. Thoughts?

Hi I am not from Canada but Australia. We have courts award DNA testing and Child Support but it doesn't mean they will pay. I have not been paid regularly since 1999. It is a shame though these parents deny their children. Good luck

A judge ordered my daughters bio dad to take a DNA test. He still had to pay for it. And the judge requested he pay for my costs to have DNA tests done, but I declined. The guy paid child support as ordered by the judge until my husband adopted her. I am in Canada as well. You do not need a lawyer. You can use a court appointed lawyer to advise you and stand by your side. If you have a good case you have nothing to worry about and don't need to spend money on a great lawyer. Now this happened 13 years ago so I don't exactly remember the procedure. I think you have to contact the Attorney General and they will send you the forms and procedures. Good luck!
