how do you add images in html for posting in forums that allow it / myLot

I often struggle with some types of html code when trying to add actual images in places like myspace forums and other forums that allow these permissioned actions to promote your pics and links, can anybody help?

I am going to try and see if it will let me show you. Eliminate the spaces from the symbols below and that is the code you need to anchor an image. Last time I tried to help someone it didn't take.
