the freedom movement inindia produced many leaders whose memory will linger in our minds for ever. Pandit jawaharlal nehru is in the forefront of those great leaders who made great sacrifices to win freedom for india. he had all the qualities of an ideal leader. He was self-disciplined and devoted to his followers and their cause. He even had his destiny made for him by becoming a close associate of gandhiji and a staunch supporter of the freedom movement. Born on 14th november 1889, in a wealthy family in allahabad, nehru had his education in england. on his return, he started his career as a barrister. then the legal profession was the most lucrative and respected one in india. but nehru was not lured by that..he threw away the barrister's robes and plunged into the freedom struggle. Influenced by the thoughts of great leaders like balagangadhar thilak, gokhale and annie besant, he become a staunch disciple of mahatma gandhi. he sacrificed material comforts in life and went to jail on several occasions for his participation in the freedom movement. while injail he did not while away the time but devoted his time to writing such famous books as the discovery of india..
