Y does a ceiling fan rotate in anticlock wise direction?

I hope u all know what is ceiling fan,and a table fan. Did u observe that your ceiling fan rotates in anticlockwise direction whereas your table fan rotates in clock wise direction.
Tell me how is it both are rotating in different direction for the same purpose.
