Abacus or Sempoa is a tool for our kids to learn basic skill in math. The kids will do add, substract, multiply or divide the numbers more faster than calculator. is it important in computer era like now ?

I think the abacus is so much slower than a calculator. I think it's obsolete and it shouldn't be taught in school. There is no use for it, in todays' society.

Any people think that if our kids learn abacus, it will make the kids more creative because the kids will usually use the right brain, not only left brain like before.

he abacus is still in use today by shopkeepers in Asia and "Chinatowns" in North America. The use of the abacus is still taught in Asian schools, and some few schools in the West. Blind children are taught to use the abacus where their sighted counterparts would be taught to use paper and pencil to perform calculations. One particular use for the abacus is teaching children simple mathematics and especially multiplication; the abacus is an excellent substitute for rote memorization of multiplication tables, a particularily detestable task for young children. The abacus is also an excellent tool for teaching other base numbering systems since it easily adapts itself to any base. i think they outght to know abt it
