You want to learn how to live off of a small amount of money? Go broke. Have no money, then you will either learn how it is done or realize how it feels to not know where your next meal is comong from. Been there, done that, AIN'T going back.

I am borderline broke and I still spend. My happiness is not as important as other and so I spend. I have not children to spoil just a cuddly man to keep happy. I think before I came into the picture he was able to hold onto his money now that I am in the picture well thats a whole new story. thanks for the post.

I always shop around for the cheapest price so i guess i could be considered cheap but if something is worth it i will spend a bit more.

I am not cheap but I am frugal.. I will totally look areound for the best price on things and I will frequently purchase used item in thrift stores or on eBay. I do like to spend money and usually spend it on family and friends. I am bad at spending money on myself.
Even with that I still manage to keep within my budget. I always include frivolous spending money in my budget because it is important to have fun and spend some on things that you want. i just get creative and make everything work.
If I was not frugal this would never work.

Considering we have kids to take care of and pets we have to pinch our pennies and make them go as far as possible. We shop at discount stores and used clothing stores. Honestly there is nothing wrong with those stores. You still get name brand clothing, some with the tags still on them, and they are in style. You are just paying way less than if you bought them brand new.

I'm not cheap and I'm not frugal and I don't hate spending a lot of money. I'm hard put at the end of the month but somehow manage to get by until my pension check hits the bank. Fortunately I have a Credit Line checking account so even if I do go beyond the balance the bank will extend the credit so that the check wont bounce. I tried to put myself on a budget but it was a complete failure. Something always came up to knock it out of whacks.

Same here at the dollar store, there are a lot of orientals who run those and they get things from overseas and they are not regulated by the government and have chemicals and lead that are poison.

I'm a part-time frugal, I should say. I have nothing against to buy sometimes clothing from second-hand shops, I hardly throw away some knitted things, because I can rip them up etc. But if I see something I really like to have, I usually buy it... if I can afford it. In my opinion the best way to save money is to make a special bank account and put there some % from your income every month, right after you get money. And then you have nothing else to do but forget it (forgetting is the most difficult thing about it...lol) until the next payday.

Well I guess I am, I find myself cheap in a some ways like buying clothes and food. I am also cheap in giving gifts, well I guess the reason behind that is that I don't have so much money to spend. It's like I'm always on a tight budget everytime I go shopping. I am always on the Look out for the word SALE or 20-50% OFF, if it's not SALE I will not buy it. I guess that's part of being practical.
