I've just taken up Crochet and was wondering if anyone knows of any good online sources for free patterns?

Freepatterns.com is a good place to get free patterns. They also have patterns for other crafts like, plastic canvas, knitting, and I think cross stitch. They have some really nice patterns and they are free.

I hope that is correct as it won't let me cut and paste into the box.
It has almost anything you could want.
I think it's great that the other Nancy doesn't need patterns. But please don't feel badly that you do. I do sometimes make up my own patterns, but usually I use a pattern. I tend to use the same ones over and over so that once I get started, I'm good to go.
But I've crocheted for many many many years, and still use patterns a lot. So please don't feel badly for wanting patterns.

I agree, please don't think I meant you should never use patterns, just that you might like to try without. Patterns are fine if thats what works for you:)

crochetpatterncentral.com is a great site. They have patterns of all kinds there. I frequent their site when I am feeling crafty.

I usually go to yahoo and type in "free crochet patterns". You would be surprised how many there are online.

The nice thing about crochet is that often you don't need a pattern at all. I don't think I've used a pattern for crochet in over 20 years now, I just make it up as I go along. Its such a forgiving media that its easy to do it this way
