I must say that in my opinion, the guy's not all there (in the mind)!! He appeared on a daytime TV show in the UK, to talk about his latest stunt a few years back, and was interviewed by one of the smiliest most unthreatening plump little male interviewers (the kind of "safe" presenter that the grannies would want to invite round for a cup of tea, and knit a jumper for) in existence: Eamonn Holmes. Well, Mr. Blaine refused to speak, staring him down, looking wild-eyed and as though he'd taken an illicit substance before the interview. When Eamonn asked him why he wasn't speaking to him, he held up the palm of his right hand which had an "evil eye" symbol drawn on it. Eamonn was obviously rather surprised, and baffled by this, and asked him what that was, trying to engage him in discussion, and all he would say was (in one-word answers) that it was "protection" from "evil"!!!! Most bizarre, and the most freakish behaviour I've ever seen in an interview - let alone in the comfy-cosy world of Good Morning Television!!!! I think all those endurance tests have left him a few sandwiches short of a picnic!

INTERESTING! hmmm.. that was great! wish i saw the show but i can't.. you know what, each of us has this gifts. we may not understand others but no matter how he/she explain things, some cases is good to be as is. just use what you have in a good way. david blaine is trying to use it in his own ways. i mean, he loves his mom so much... :)

Yessss, loving your mom a lot isn't a virtue in itself (and he's hardly likely to appeal to as wide an audience if he doesn't play that card) - as I recall Ed Gein "loved" his mother a lot too. I don't think you can always judge a person by the persona they promote. And any person who thinks Eamonn Holmes is someone to be afraid of is either "tired and emotional" or has a serious flaw in his judgement of character! Not that I've any problem with people being fans of his, it's just that I'm not, and thought I'd add my view to the debate. I also assumed that most of the non-UK folks on here hadn't seen that particular gem of televisual history, so thought I'd let you know. Maybe he was just jet-lagged (although that evil eye must have taken some time to draw - it was intricate as hell!), but even so, he's really not the kind of celebrity who appeals to me, charity work or not.

I do think that David Blane is good at what he does I sometimes wonder why he feels the need to do some of the stunts he does? Is it a way of testing his ability?

David is a great magician unfortunately he's turned from performing magic to doing commercial stunts. That's where the big money is.
