yes, you are right. some ppl just would not change no matter what, obviously they are the ones who never learn from experiences.
cheers.....

No people grow wiser with experience, which is usually associated with age. The older you are, the more you have experienced. But this doesn't mean that every old person is extremely wise. They could be just as dumb as a naive 15 year old. So no, prudence is not directly proportional to age or to knowledge. I have met some freakishly intelligent people my age (17).

well said, i really appreciate. it's believed that we are supposed to gain more experience with age and as experience is directly proportional to wisdom, we tend to relate age with prudence. in reality , this depends on intelligence of the individual, as snowflake has rightly pointed out.
thank you very much

i appreciate you. being old with less practical experiences is certainly not being wise.

I think this phrase has something true in it. I consider that once with the age you accumulate a bag of incontestable knowledge. I don't know if i am doing the good thing but i consider the ones which are older not so wise, i think i should consider them because they deserve it. Good luck!

i really appreciate. with more knowledge and experience we get wise and gaining experiences is directly proportional to age, in most cases.
thank you
wish you a very happy new year

I think it depends on the intelligence of the person concerned. Intelligent people are capable of learning from experience, so it follows that the older they get the wiser they get.
There are some people however who are not intelligent and no amount of experience teaches them anything - so they do not progress with age. A non-intelligent person of sixty will often know less than an intelligent person of thirty.

I think people can grow wiser with age depending on how they live their lives. I think age gives a certain distance to many issues of youth that can seem confusing when you are experiencing them for the first time.
Age alone, however, is not a prerequisite for wisdom.

i agree with you. i think what nickventere (see previous response)has said is justified. as we grow we gather more and more experiences, which attribute to wisdom in long run, and that make us wiser. we have a different perspective to face a crisis, this would otherwise have been different when not experienced.
having said that, age is indeed not the only pre requisite for prudence. factors like society, culture, genetics, IQ, all contribute to it.
thank a lot for sharing

older doesnt means wiser...i've seen people in their 40s and having the mentality of a 20s. it depends on the upbringing, the people you mixed with, the books that you read and your social life, i guess...there was one time, i met a 19 years old girl that are so career minded that i thought she was 30...the only giveaway was that she dresses like a kid...

Though it might not be directly proportional to age or to knowledge, per se, I think prudence comes with life's experiences. To say being old is being wiser is a paraphrase to suggest that the older one gets, the more experiences on life one has.
So the older u grow, the more enlightened u become.

that is just excellent! i would have not got a more appropriate response. u have explained it very briefly and precisely.
yes, the experiences that we gather through the journey of life make us wise and prudent. a child might have a magical talent to solve graver mathematical puzzles in math olympiads but he will definitely lack practical knowledge of how to sail through life.

some people don't mature as they age.I have an office colleague who is around 40 years old but acts like a 20 something.it is a bit disappointing, but I think it will really depend on the person.some have learned their lessons, from "been there, done that" situations in their lives.some though haven't learned their life lessons yet.some are just stuck in their pasts and doesn't want to move forward.

I absolutely agree with you Coco. It's all about how we grow through experiences. Some do some do not. Thanks for enlivening this old, very old discussion.
