How do you become a Top User?

I've been watching the top users for several days. but what i want to understand is how much activity you need to have on the site. i mean, do you have to post 100 replies and open x topics? How does it work? Thanks in advance for your responses

hi,post maximum responses and start discussions better than all members in a day...so you become top user.

i think the top user is selcted by the points one earns. the top user is the one who has earned the maximum point in the day by doin different things
