This question has come up a lot lately, especially with so many US States passing "Concealed Carry" laws. Should a teacher be able to have a concealed weapon in the classroom?
The arguments usually have more to do with the person's attitude towards guns or concealed carry in the first place. That or just simple statements about how guns don't belong in the classroom.
The way I see it though, the argument is more about what would happen if the teacher actually used the gun. After all, a gun is just a hunk of metal and fiberglass as long as it stays concealed.
If a person goes in a school and starts shooting up the place, how would we treat the teacher who pulled out their concealed weapon and shot the perpetrator?
The teacher would either be a hero or a criminal. The ONLY difference between the two would be whether or not having the gun was illegal or not.
So, to argue that it should be illegal for a teacher to have a concealed weapon in school is to consider it a crime to prevent the killing of kids in school.
