What is firmware

in simple words : Firmware is a set of commands for a device to work . This Firmware is embeded within a chip inside the device . we have firmware within a modem, a mobile phone, a digital camera, a CD/DVD drive ... etcetra . The firmware in a modem plays important role to connect to the internet . If we do not have the correct firmware installed in Modem then we may not be able to connect to the internet . The firmware is updated by the manufacturer whenever it is necessary . And we can upgrade the firmware of a device thru a simple procedure .
