I ususally correspond with my friends by email, but for important mail I use both email and snail mail. I can send the snail mail by registered post so that I will know that it has been received.

I think it is better to corrospond by email. I use yahoo mail, I love it. I wouldn't recieve this message or I wouldn't be on MyLot without it.

Each method of mailing has its own benefits and disadvantages. I have always preferred snail mail as it is more meaningful and more special when the letter is handwritten. More thought is given and put into a regular letter compared to a email plus I think snail mail is a little safer and more secure. Emails get to a person quicker than snail mail but overall I like snail mail better.

Nothing beats the personal touch an actual handwritten letter with the details that makes it person to person. You can keep them in a binder like I do for my Mothers since she is nearing 80 and I don't know how many more I will have, then I will be able to read and re read them after she is gone. I also do emails to keep in touch with friends I have met on line since we live a distance apart and have our own lives only shared on the computer. Icons don't do justice to the nuances available in a hand written letter.

If it's something of particular urgency--email is best. Snail mail is good for best wishes/congratulations and adds a personal, thoughtful touch to any message since snail mail is less common nowadays.

To get a message out fast I like to use email or text but when it comes to personal things like birthdays or thanks etc I like to send and recieve cards and letters in the mail. You tend to keep the special ones and emails just get deleted...
