Detoxing, the truth!

I've been reading up on the scientific evidence for whether any of the detox products on the market work, and its accepted fact amongst the scientific community that they do not do any more for you than the benefits you would get by drinking extra water, getting some fresh air, and having a few early nights! Really, all those potions the shops want to sell us are a total rip off, our bodies can get rid of all the Christmas excesses just by giving our gut, liver and kidneys a chance to flush all those extra drinks and late nights all by themselves, add good general nutrition and excercise and thats all we need for long term benefits. Ever been taken in by the wild claims of one of the detox potions?

I had just put up a post about detox patches when I saw this. I'm using the patches at the moment and after two nights I'm feeling great. I got a great nights sleep on both nights (something I usually don't get), and am full of energy. So I think these are definately a positive thing.

Could it be a placebo effect though as much as anything? The scientific evidence seems pretty clear that the effect of these things is minimal. However, I'm also a great believer that if it works for you, it doesnt matter whether its provable or a placebo, so its great that you are feeling imporved by them
