Do you always hire a tradesman when something goes wrong in the house?

Some husbands do most of the repairs in the house. I know of some wives who are exceptionally good too. What kind of problems you think either the husband or the wife can solve by themselves. Changing light bulbs, fixing a clogged sink, changing door knobs, painting? Do you know of some more?

In my opinion, if you or someone in the family can fix the problem, then professional help should not be sought. My parents usually ask me for help with problems involving electronics, and my dad is good with carpentry, painting, simple fix-it things, etc. For the most part, we take care of problems ourselves, but I know that not everyone would be able to do that. If someone has the skill or ingenuity to be able to do so, then I think they ought to; otherwise, if it is likely they will make a problem worse while trying to fix it, someone else should be called in.

I share your opinion. Nicely said.
