Is Wiccan a true Religion?

I have met a few witches on the net (the real kind). I know that the army now quietly acknowledges some Wiccan requests for God knows what (if you'll pardon the pun). Are there Pagen followers out there or others with an opinion about Wicca, witchcraft and the like as a bona fide religion?

Actually the armys chaplin handbook includes Wicca and Wicca is as of the mid 80's now a recognized religion as decided by a Federal Court if I'm not mistaken... Paganism is a blanket term for earth type paths this ranges from modern Wicca (its only been around since the 1950s) and old school Witchcraft (which has been around for hundreds of yrs) and various other paths such as Native American and for some it simple is a term refering to NonChristians Witchcraft which isnt the same as Wicca is a far older path than even Christianity.. As far as them being real (well Paganism cant be argued really), yes they are real bona fide religions/paths...and they are also very very misunderstood unfortunately...

Thanks for the education. I really appreciate the post. I thought the army had acknowledged that, just wasn't sure of the details.
