My husband was born with rare heart defect where he had multiple defects. He under went his 1st surgery during the 70's when doctors were just exsperimenting on such problems. Now that he is an adult he is told that the doctors today does not want to do anything else to him because of the damage done in the past exsperiments. He is told that he should go back to the doctors that originaly did his 1st surgery, but those doctors are all retired or dead. In the past 2 years he has gotten so weak that he doesn't leave the house anymore. And it seems like the doctors have all turned their backs on him. I should add that he was never exspected to live more than a year after his 1st surgery but his parents and himself made the choice to allow the surgery because they were told that it would help people in the future. But now where is his help? Should he be left to die now? Everyday I see, the pain and frustation in his eyes. He has lost the cheerful personality he had. What can I do? I feel so alone on this matter. Even his family has stopped coming around and some have even stopped calling. They say it's because they can't stand to watch him die. But I have too everyday. Has anyone else had this happen to them? How do you handle it?
