Hypohosphataemia

This is a common metabolic disturbance in alcoholics partly due to magnesium loss and low intake. Diaorrhea or phosphate binding phoshate intake as drug. Respiratory and metabolic alkalsis always shows a fall in phosphate in serum. There is phosphate shift from the extracellular to the intracellular pool in alkalosis.
