death of scooby doo?

My six year old son came crying from school because he heard on the news that scooby doo has died. I browsed several news sites to read that the inventor of Scooby Doo and Flintstones have died at the age of 81.
I reassured my son that he is still can watch scooby doo cartoons on television. He is a real fan of scooby doo and on his birthday he wanted to receive a birthday greeting by this character. I have to bribe a relative to pose as scooby doo on the telephone. Are your children fans of a particular cartoon? If yes which? What is your story?

When my boys were little the infamous characters were the Ninja Turtles, Barney, Power Rangers-briefly. As they got older...Batman & Spiderman. I loved scooby doo and the flinstones when I was a kid...its really funny to see them bringing all the cartoons back from my era now.
